Astronauts Swim
NASA astronauts simulate floating in space as they train for spacewalks in a huge pool called the Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory.
This video shows Lucy watching an astronaut preparing for his work in space! At the Johnson Space Centre in Texas, astronauts use the specially adapted swimming pool to train for their space adventures. Inside the swimming pool lies a mock up of the International Space Station. The astronaut is lowered into the pool in his space suit to allow him a practice run at working on the outside of the International Space Station. Once in space, this experience will help him or her to carry out the tasks they have flown into space to complete.

Zero Gravity Flights
This video shows the wonder of weightlessness - the amazing sensation of floating in zero gravity. Lucy did a zero gravity flight in 2008 from the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida. Her father flew on the same flight a year earlier in 2007, becoming the first disabled passenger to fly with The Zero Gravity Corporation. The same flights are used by NASA to train their astronauts for their work in space!
